Pending Issues on the Peace Agenda

For those of you in the Washington, D.C. area, please join us at the U.S. Institute of Peace (2301 Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, DC) beginning at noon on Monday, September 23 and continuing on Tuesday, September 24 for an event on “Pending Issues on the Colombian Peace Agenda.”  Click here for a detailed agenda and to register for the event.  Registration is required, as seating is limited.

We will be web-casting the event. The webcast will be available live at the time of the conference and can be viewed at the event website here.   The conference will examine three of the remaining agenda items:  DDR (disarmament, demobilization and reitegration), victims and human rights, and illicit drugs.

Another USIP event that may be of interest will take place on Wednesday, September 25th on “Local Peacebuilding and National Peace Processes.”  This event features Andries Odendaal, our former Senior Fellow, who will be launching his new book, A Crucial Link: Local Peace Committees and National Peacebuilding. Christopher Mitchell and Jackie Wilson will also be speaking, and I will moderate.  Click here for more information and to register for the event.

Ginny, I will watch the webinar. Please acept this sugestion, I think, and I am sure many women and peace builders in Colombia would agree, that it is mandatory to talk also about demilitarazation. This a wide concept that encompass many dimensions.
